A wake to celebrate the life of a great American actor

Postby Rawhide » Mon 27 Feb, 2006 22:57

This past weekend, the world lost an icon of American acting. Comic genius Don Knotts passed away at the age of 81.

Don Knotts was best known for his iconic portrayal of Barney Fife, the bumbling, lovable deputy, on The Andy Griffith Show (1960 - 68). Later he co-starred on Three's Company as the bumbling, lovable apartment manager Ralph Furley.

In fact, Don Knotts made a lifelong career out of playing the same bumbling, lovable character on tv and in movies. He co-starred in 7 tv series over the years and countless movies.

I will be reviewing Don Knott's movies all this week to commemorate the career of this American icon.

Movies to be reviewed:

The Ghost and Mr. Chicken
The Apple Dumpling Gang
Pleasantville
The Incredible Mr. Limpet
The Shakiest Gun in the West
and The Reluctant Astronaut

I loved him in three's company, that was my first introduction.  I started watching Andy Griffith in syndication later on.  Great comedic actor, and showed some depth in his role in Pleasantville.
